COŞKUNÖZ EDUCATION FOUNDATION
Education is the Best Investment for a Solid Profession, Solid Future
Our founder M. Kemal Coşkunöz, known in the industry as “Teacher Kemal” owing to his background as a technical teacher, made many innovations in the industry, and always believed that every individual has a responsibility in solving social problems. He founded the Bursa Coşkunöz Education Foundation in 1988 to address the shortcomings of vocational education - which he saw as one of Turkey’s biggest problems, to meet the need for skilled technical workers in the automotive industry and to equip unemployed young people with the necessary skills to obtain jobs. The Coşkunöz Education Foundation, which was one of the first social responsibility projects developed in Turkey, continues to support vocational education by building on the solid foundations laid by him, in a way that he always dreamed of.
The Bursa Coşkunöz Education Foundation, a “Public Benefit Foundation”, is funded by Coşkunöz Holding companies and spends 80% of its total income on technical training. Every year, the Foundation offers, with its cadre of trainers and educators, 18 months of theoretical and practical training as part of its vocational training program for high school graduates who have not had the opportunity to get further education and graduates these young individuals as qualified personnel. Under a protocol agreed upon with the Turkish Ministry of National Education (MEB), those who successfully complete the training course are awarded a Vocational Baccalaureate by MEB. At the same time, our foundation offers in-service training for public school technical teachers from different parts of Turkey.
THERE IS SCIENCE IN THIS
The Best for a Science-Loving Generation and Bright Future
Since 2016, we have been running the “Bu İşte Bilim Var” (There is science behind it) educational campaign to get children to love science with fun activities, help them acquire scientific and creative thinking skills through experiments, and in the long term, raise a generation with research skills that can develop creative ideas.
UN Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs)
We see women’s empowerment and gender equality in all areas of life as one of the most important conditions for social development. In this context, we are proud to be a signatory of the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs).
The Coşkunöz Search and Rescue Team
The Coşkunöz Search and Rescue Team was established on February 6-7, 2023, following the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş. It will provide services within the framework of the AFAD (Turkey Disaster and Emergency Management Authority) coordination in activities related to locating and rescuing individuals in need of urgent assistance due to natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, or other natural conditions.
Coşkunöz Education Complex
After the disaster of the 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquake, we have been actively involved in relief efforts for the affected region right from the beginning. Following the guidance of the Ministry of National Education (MEB), our focus has been on addressing the most significant need in the field of education. In the Kırıkhan district of Hatay, we opened an educational complex consisting of four buildings for the 2023-2024 academic year.
Situated within an area of 18,830 square meters, the complex includes a total of four separate buildings with a combined closed area of 5,674 square meters. The complex features 40 classrooms and can accommodate up to 954 students. Within the complex, there are 12-classroom primary school, middle school, and vocational high school buildings, along with a kindergarten building with 4 classrooms. With the ongoing dual education system in the primary and middle school buildings, the total number of students in the complex has reached 2000.
Constructed in a short period of approximately 4 months, the educational complex follows Anatolian architecture, comprising courtyard-style, single-story structures. The earthquake-resistant buildings, constructed with steel framing, incorporate design elements inspired by Hatay's traditional architecture.
The primary school building includes science and visual arts workshops, a music classroom, a multipurpose physical education hall, and an activity room. The middle school building features a science laboratory, visual arts and technology design workshops, a music classroom, and a multipurpose physical education hall. The high school building includes physics, chemistry, and biology laboratories, along with three food technology laboratories, a visual arts and music classroom, and a multipurpose hall. Both the primary school and kindergarten have a cafeteria. Additionally, the complex houses an e-exam center.
